Hard not to say the GM 3.0 Diesel

    But turbo engines don't fail!

Yeah, I would have. I seem to be the only one posting new news around here, trying to get people to talk about something. I'm somehow completely baffled that people don't think Ford recalling 100,000 engines is news regardless of whether it's a turbo or a V8. There's definitely people that...

    But turbo engines don't fail!

You don't think people would care that Ford is recalling 100,000 V8 engines? I'm confused.😂

    But turbo engines don't fail!

Can we only say that the engine is having issues if the turbo itself has problems?

    But turbo engines don't fail!

I just like to see the 5.3L V8 get better miles per gallon City and Highway than any of the new turbos in trucks. Or the three liter diesel that smokes them all. I'm not a turbo hater that's why I started this thread with "I jest" but their track record as late would show that they're having...

    But turbo engines don't fail!

LOL I was at work and it actually came across my home screen on Microsoft I don't like to source that second hand shit so I went to the original source of the article. At least they gave them credit for it. I won't be home until this evening to check on the YouTubes.

    But turbo engines don't fail!

Ok, I jest. However, this is the 2nd major manufacturer running small displacement turbo engines in SUV's and Trucks to have to recall and replace engines due to failure. https://gearjunkie.com/motors/car-suv/ford-ecoboost-engine-recall Also, side rant. I'm a little worn out of the "3rd party...

If the duty cycle of the engine is such that it can operate under heavy loads at it's peak torque RPM why does it matter if one is 500 RPM lower than the other. Especially considering one is a TT V6 and the other is a NA V8. It doesn't make sense to me and seems like a very arbitrary way to test...

I chuckle at how many Ford owners don't know that, it also recommends premium fuel for all around maximum performance just like the 6.2.

Looking for perspective... Getty Adventures Video

Quick background: Getty Adventures is a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic. He has a great YouTube channel that focuses on 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks usually going over engine design, what he likes and dislikes about the design and towing comparisons. He does great videos and I've learned a lot about...

More than half of new light duty vehicles recommend premium fuel..

Don't have the diesel price but when I filled up the other day gas was $3.49 for reg and $4.49 for premium. Diesel usually floats around premium price.

    Toyota Landcruiser Towing

I had to google around for that lol, all of the trailers I've used are electric but It auto detects as soon as plugged in. It also reminds you to turn on Tow/Haul when a trailer is plugged in and auto jumps to the trailer selection/entry if the trailer isn't pre-programmed and recognized. If it...

Just got back from Salmon and Halibut trip in BC

For about 15 years my family, and then the guys only, did an annual fishing trip to Bella Coola on the BC coast, about 200 miles NNW from there. Amazing place and even better fishing. Miss it. We spent days fishing on the lake and then floated the Bella Coola river for Salmon.

More than half of new light duty vehicles recommend premium fuel..

It may not be a direct correlation but it could be an indirect correlation. I would be curious to know why the percentage of light vehicles requiring/recommending premium fuel has shot through the roof in the last few years. Is it EPA requirements drove the manufacturers towards Turbo charging...

More than half of new light duty vehicles recommend premium fuel..

The regulations that have ended up requiring smaller fuel efficient engines are driving up prices for consumers. Similar to EV's, vehicles for the wealthy subsidized by the lower to middle class. I think there's a story here.

    Toyota Landcruiser Towing

He had a simlar take with the Lexus GX, first time I've ever heard them say a vehicle is rated for too much weight. It's odd because the GX is the same powertrain as the Tundra but he ran out of pedal on the Ike quick. I wonder what's going on there. The brake controller on the LC is goofy, it...

More than half of new light duty vehicles recommend premium fuel..

I didn't realize the number had gotten so high. I run premium in my truck and it's gone from .30c per gallon (pre-covid) to the 1.00 more per gallon I paid yesterday to fill up. It's been consistently around the .50-.80 above regular since COVID. The unintended cost of vehicles trying to meet...
