Have you seen the short of the new Super Duty Carhartt Edition? I did and I have opinions!

First. I love the fact that the manufacturers fight to see who gets to do a Carhartt Edition on any given year. It's such a Detroit thing. Plus, it has a wider appeal than the Vernor's Editions had.

That said, I do have reservations for the $4,195 asking price. Yes, I like the logos, triple stitching, and fancy wheels that come with the package but I think they could have gone further for that price. The main one for me is the seat fabric. Carhartt is all about the fabric, so they should've used their fabrics for the upholstery instead of replicating the look of it using colors. Now maybe you can argue that the machinery used to upholster a Ford seat is dependent on the thickness and thread count of automotive upholstery, but these are limited editions. I'm sure that they could've made room on the King Ranch upholstery line and the prices between those two materials cannot be that great a difference.

I also think there should be at least some sort of "swag" to go with it. Detroit Jacket, Tool bag, Backpack, or their iconic nylon duck seat covers in complimentary colors suited to the interior. They should also throw in a gift card for the buyers choice of a pair of Carhartt Boots. Even their Yukon Pac insulated ten-inch composite toe pac boot.

Lastly, I think this package should be available in all XLT configurations: regular cab, extended, long bed, short, cab chassis. Also, they should offer this package at cost to the line workers. Ford and Carhartt are celebrating these hard-working people by collaborating together. Share the love with them.

The packages are always fun to create. I just think they should swing for the fences.

I'm pretty anti advertisement for anything, even brands I like. This is the first truck I've owned that I didn't debadge. I don't wear clothes with large advertisements or words or quotes. It's impossible to get away from the little Carhartt patch, or Columbia logo but in general I try to avoid brand marketing.

That's a long winded way of saying I wouldn't drive a Carhartt banded truck or any other marketed branded truck. I find it nearly as distasteful as bumper stickers.

I'm odd. I know.
