According to a few sources the 2.7 Turbomax is getting a boost in HP & Torque. That's a great engine, I rented a Chevy 1500 last year with this engine and I was pretty surprised at the power delivery and availability. The MPG was decent too. Interesting.

Sounds like there will be 3 engines getting performance boosts when they release the details of the 2027's

Good! The engine feels weaker than what the number suggested some I'm happy it's getting a bump in power. Otherwise it's a pretty nice engine and you can get some pretty decent fuel mileage when cruising around.

Just had a Silverado with the 2.7L get delivered today! I saw that story as well. Wish there were more details.

Do me a favor. If you try launching that thing at all try it the normal way (brake stand - holding the brake, building some RPM then releasing the brake) and then try it by just slammming the gas pedal hard. Assuming 4 Auto is available. Curious if you notice a difference in the launch.

Aside from that I'm curious what you think about the 2.7 in a full size. I was pretty impressed in all aspects. I can't remember if you've had one before... I assume you have just by the sheer number of reviews you do.

Seems like the 2.7 has been pretty good. It's underpowered vs Fords 2.7 and Rams 3.0 but I actually think it's in a good spot. I'd worry if they keep adding more power... Can they keep bearings in it?

Underpowered, I don't know. 30 more torque, 15ish less HP and more towing with the Turbomax compared to the Ford 2.7. The RAM 3.0 is a different beast.

I guess it's more of a feeling while driving. Seems like it could use more passing power to me. It has been awhile since I've been in a 2.7 ford though so maybe id feel the same about it now.

I drove one briefly years ago when it first launched. I don’t recall having one since. This is a RST model as well. They sent me a lower trim which is a nice change of pace.

I did a few pulls today. Forgot to put it in 4 Auto though.

Anyway, slammed the gas to start and it was just fine. Like an old school V6. Then, stood on the pedal. Truck let me rev to 2k and that’s it. Launched and it felt slightly better.

Either way, I wouldn’t be bragging about 0-60 if I owned this truck. It’s a fine daily driver though.
