Hi Tim,
As national gas prices jumped nearly 90 cents this month, used Teslas are selling about twice as fast as the rest of the market.
While the average used car takes 53 days to sell, the Tesla Model X and Cybertruck sell in less than 28 days. The used market hasn’t seen days on market this high since January 2024.
The latest iSeeCars study found that used cars are taking about 41% longer to sell than a year ago, while new cars are selling 15% faster year-over-year.

Here are the fastest-selling used cars:

  • Used car sales have slowed for seven consecutive months.
  • Non-Tesla used EVs are selling even slower than average, taking 57.3 days to sell.
  • Alternative-fuel vehicles account for 15 of the 20 slowest-selling used cars.

“The slowing trend in used car sales is undeniable over the past 7 months,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “If used car shoppers are both tired of high prices and feeling less confident about their spending power, that days-on-market number could rise further in the coming months.”

It does fit with the other news about EVs gaining sales as people react to gas prices.

What they aren't doing is thinking of the added cost of the monthly payment and that prices for electricity has gone up where data centers have been built.

I do or am seeing more Cybertrucks around. They're ugly and I wish Elon hadn't pushed the design envelope so far. Aside from that, I think it's a good vehicle as far as EV's go and I imagine you can get a decent deal on a used one. Though if the used car market continues to percolate that will probably change.
