    Rear drum brakes

I was listening to the Car Care Nut channel. They were detailing a VW Buzz, and I was surprised to hear the vehicle has rear drum brakes. I had a 2011 Jetta with that set up for 10 years and drove it to 100k miles before trading it in. I had to replace the rear brakes once in that time period...

    Off-Roading with the Ridgeline TrailSport

I live on the east coast and go occasionally through the woods, over a hill in Massachussetts. Some steep portions, some ruts, some deep puddles.

    Off-Roading with the Ridgeline TrailSport

Has anyone been off-roading with the Honda Ridgeline TrailSport? How did it go in terms of ground clearance, transmission temperature and what kind of terrain was it? Thank you.

    Rock Creek trim at Nissan

That is the question. Hopefully not, Nissan has a rich history of vehicles that are part of the automotive history.

    Rock Creek trim at Nissan

Nissan needs something. For too long, the company was showing interesting concepts, but those were not necessarily followed by an actual product on the market. Now - and gradually - Nissan is popping its head up and revealing a couple of models in an off-road trim. Off-road trims are in, sedans...

    Hyundai Santa Cruz in Massachusetts

I just spend an overnight stay in the Berkshire mountains in Massachusetts and noticed how many more Santa Cruz pickups I saw there, compared to my home state of New Jersey. From Friday night to Saturday morning for example, I saw five different ones in the town of Lenox.

    Andrei's "new" (to him) truck

It was surprising to see he went for a 2019 vehicle. Especially since he said he wanted to own new trucks and test them long term, when he bought the Colorado. He did say in this video that he wanted to own a V8 while there were still a few around. Of course the price is a determining factor and...

    Andrei's "new" (to him) truck

Tim is waiting for his RHO, I know we can't wait to see him drive it and report. Andrei / TFL just traded in his 2023 Colorado Trail Boss for a 2019 Tundra TRD. Dave and Kelly / All Terrain Nation recently acquired a Bronco Raptor. Plenty of potential updates to look forward to.

    New Clutch Plate Update

If you are used to driving a minivan, the main issue will be the same: the length. You probably noticed, a scratched minivan is usually hit on the side, in the second half of the vehicle. That's because the driver cut too much while turning. All I keep reminding myself is to wait an extra moment...

    New Clutch Plate Update

I had a VW Jetta SE manual (2011) with rear drum brakes and, prior to that, a Saturn SL manual (2001) with rear drum brakes. The Jetta had ABS, the Saturn did not. This set-up was never an issue with these vehicles because they are light ones. I drove 20 years with both combined, and I never...

    New Clutch Plate Update

Finally, I get to share an update on the forum. The clutch plate was replaced this past August 2024 under the recall issued in the spring of 2023. In one quick summary: What a difference. The gears engage smoothly and precisely, the gear lever gives the perfect feedback which means that the...

    Clutch Plate recall

My 2022 Gladiator Rubicon is in the shop today for the clutch plate recall. I will report after driving the truck for a while, and see if I notice any improvement. For now, all I can say is that it took FCA / Stellantis quite a while to make the part available, so the repair could be done.

    Reliable Pentastar

I did not get many details from the dealership where the engine was replaced. What the service person heard from the mechanic was that the engine "was totally destroyed inside". I did not have the reflex of asking for more info because I knew I was going to get rid of the truck after the fix and...

    Reliable Pentastar

So far my choice to go for a Pentastar engine in the Gladiator paid off. Granted, we are only talking about 17,000 miles and a 14 months period. Still, the Silverado 1500 with the 6.2 died one week short of 12 months with 14,000 miles on the odometer. My only concern with the Pentastar is the...

    Silverado Design

Funny to go back and rehear the reactions to the current Silverado design when it first came out: "Fist in the Wind" concept. It totally blends in these days, but generated strong reactions back in 2019. I liked the RST trim's look I used to own, particularly in dimmed light. The LED bulbs...
